Non-Discrimination Policy
Statement of Non-Discrimination
Allegheny Valley College (AVC) is committed to maintaining an inclusive, respectful, and equitable environment. We prohibit discrimination and harassment based on race, color, national origin, ancestry, religion, sex, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, marital status, pregnancy, age, disability, veteran status, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local law.
This policy applies to all members of the AVC community, including students, faculty, staff, contractors, vendors, and visitors, as well as any individual participating in AVC-sponsored programs or activities, whether on-campus, online, or at off-site locations.
Commitment to Equal Access and Opportunity
AVC is dedicated to providing equal access to educational programs, admissions, financial aid, employment, and services. We strive to create an environment where individuals feel valued and supported in pursuing their academic, professional, and personal goals. AVC ensures that all policies, procedures, and resources support our mission of non-discrimination.
Reporting Discrimination or Harassment
If you believe you have experienced or witnessed any form of discrimination or harassment, we encourage you to report it to the appropriate office at AVC. Reports of discrimination may be filed with the Director of Compliance and DEB (Diversity, Equity, and Belonging), who also serves as AVC’s Title IX Coordinator, at Tamira.Rutter@AlleghenyValleyCollege.org.
Response and Investigation
AVC promptly reviews all reports of discrimination and harassment and takes appropriate action in accordance with AVC policies and applicable law. We ensure fair and thorough investigations, addressing complaints in a timely, confidential, and effective manner.
Anti-Retaliation Policy
AVC prohibits retaliation against any individual who, in good faith, reports discrimination or participates in an investigation. Any retaliatory actions—such as intimidation, threats, or adverse treatment—are strictly prohibited and subject to disciplinary action.
AVC is committed to ensuring a welcoming and safe community for all and to fostering a campus culture that reflects our values of respect, inclusivity, and equity.
